This Pentek CC-10 coconut carbon filter cartridge reduces chlorine taste and odor, methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and sediment in residential and commercial drinking water. It has a nominal (85%) filtration rating of 20 microns. It will reduce free available chlorine (FAC) at 2 PPM by at least 75% in up to 7500 Gal. at a flow rate of 1 GPM. The filter media is made of coconut shell based granular activated carbon (GAC) for greater VOC reduction than standard GAC. The media is enclosed in a polystyrene outer casing and end caps, and there is a spun propylene post-filter to reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles. The nitrile butadiene rubber (Buna-N) and Santoprene gaskets seal the cartridge against the housing (sold separately). The filter operates over a temperature range of 40 to 125°F (4.4 to 51.7°C). This filter cartridge meets National Sanitation Foundation/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) standard 42 for quality assurance, and is for purification of residential and commercial drinking water.
